Philagrafika is planning its fifth annual Summer Solstice benefit for Wednesday, June 18th. This is the organization’s only fundraiser and its success is more important than ever as our goal of a major international festival focused on the power of the printed image in 2010 draws closer.
Each year, we ask artists to support Philagrafika by donating a print that will be available to our guests to take home with them for the price of admission. We invite guests to subscribe for $400 per couple, and, by the end of the evening, each couple goes home with a print they have selected.
As a new feature of Summer Solstice this year, we also invite artists who donate a print to participate in the “Buy It Now” room where you can sell an additional print from the same edition and split the retail price with Philagrafika 50/50. See below for more details on “Buy It Now.”
We are very grateful for your generosity, and we also hope that you take advantage of the event as an opportunity to market your work to dozens of regional collectors. We encourage you to provide us with 15 to 20 business cards postcards that we can place near your print to share with guests who are interested in seeing more of your work. In lieu of business cards, you may also send us a copy of a short biography (half page) that includes your contact information. Additionally, we have a limited number of complimentary tickets to the event and they are available on first come first serve basis to donating artists.
If you would like to make a donation of artwork valued at a level of $250 or more:
For artists making a donation of artwork, you are invited to also participate in the buy it now room. For each donated print from an edition, you may place up to two prints from the same edition in a special sales area where Summer Solstice attendees can purchase artwork directly that evening. The organization will split the revenue 50/50 with the artist. Artwork that is not sold from the Buy it Now sales event may be picked up that evening or the week of June 23rd from the Philagrafika offices.
We hope that you will join our efforts to make this benefit a success. We need to raise $35,000 for current programs and planning for the international print festival Philagrafika 2010. By doing so, you will support Philagrafika, while also exposing your artwork to a group of active Philadelphia collectors. Past Summer Solstice parties have placed artwork by Philadelphia artists and workshops in the collections of dozens of collectors.
