Bio
Judith Schaechter is known nationally and internationally for her stained glass pieces, but unlike traditional religious stained glass, her work addresses contemporary profane issues such as murder, depression, arson, and abuse. Ms. Schaechter’s work was most recently on exhibit in the 2002 Whitney Biennial. Her one person exhibitions include the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts; the Institute of Contemporary Art (Philadelphia); Helander Gallery (New York); and the Cincinnati Art Center (Ohio). She has also received many fellowships among them, two from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Pew Fellowship in the Arts, and two Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
